Pete Shaw

Pete is founder and publisher of Broadway Baby. He has extensive experience of both journalism and the performing arts, having been deputy editor of a national magazine; broadcaster on Capital Radio; producer of shows in London, Edinburgh and Dublin; and the go-to marketing guy for countless theatrical productions.

Richard Beck

A graduate in theology and education, Richard acted and contributed to dance, drama and music productions throughout his teaching career. He joined Broadway Baby in 2014 and is now our Editor-in-Chief. He usually disappears to warmer climes for the winter to pursue his passion for travel.

Levi Bailey

Levi has worked on shows in both London and Edinburgh, and since 2014 has been responsible for organising Broadway Baby listings, reviewer schedules and copy editing before publication. Prior to joining Broadway Baby, Levi worked for an international publishing company in London.

Nicholas Abrams

Nick runs Broadway Baby's Brighton operation.

Kate Copstick

Probably the most famous critic at the Fringe, Kate has previously been a judge of the Perrier Comedy and Malcolm Hardee Awards. As The Scotsman's chief comedy critic, her opinions have made and sometimes buried the careers of many an aspiring comic. Kate also spends much time in Kenya working with abused women and their families with her Mama Biashara charity, working to set these women up in small businesses, thus making them financially independent.

Gloria

Gloria is a sardonic culture columnist with a sharp eye and sharper tongue. Former theatre critic turned reluctant Fringe survivor, she skewers pretension and celebrates chaos. Known for her wit, cynicism, and disdain for bad lighting, Gloria writes from the frontlines of the absurd with a pen dipped in irony.

Taylor Hunter

Previously Editor-in- Chief of ScotsGay, Taylor joined Broadway Baby in 2021 to head up the business development of the site. An experienced Consultant in Crisis and Business PR, Taylor is one of the most trusted voices in his industry (He/Him).

James Macfarlane

Broadway Baby's Comedy Editor and Scotland Editor. In a previous life James did the same thing for ScotsGay. But we poached him.

Stuart Mckenzie

Stuart is a freelance journalist with over 13 years of professional experience, writing for various newspapers including The Scotsman, inews and The Student Wordsmith. Since joining Broadway Baby in 2013, Stuart has had extensive encounters reviewing various fields, with a particular focus on comedy, music and theatre. He has worked as the Broadway Baby music editor for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2017.

Frodo Allan

Frodo has over 25 years experience as an international musical theatre, circus, and cabaret performer and director. Described by the press as "The Godfather of Scottish cabaret", Frodo has produced and directed shows all over the world and is the recipient of several awards and accolades. As an established playwright, Frodo has written and co-written several plays and is currently creating abridged adaptations of the works of Shakespeare as part of his Bard Abridged series.

Sue Denham

Sue is a playwright who has been involved with fringe theatre for over 30 years. She is also one of the longest-serving members of the reviewing team, having joined Broadway Baby in the first year of operation.

Elanor Parker

Elanor is a Brighton based marketer, freelance writer, and English graduate. Pursuing her interest in live performance, Elanor has trained with Nottingham's New Perspectives theatre company and worked at Edinburgh Fringe, where one year she managed to see over 65 shows during the festival.

Paul Fisher Cockburn

Paul Fisher Cockburn is an Edinburgh-based freelance journalist and editor, producing reliable writing for your readers.

Gareth Williams

After graduating in 2019, Gareth has had experience working within the performing arts industry whilst also pursuing their love for reviewing. A fresh writer to the team with a burning passion and love for all types of theatre (He/They).

Sophia Charalambous

Sophia is a NQJ-accredited journalist, writing for regional and national publications. Reviewing theatre, film and comedy was part of her role as Deputy Entertainment Editor at the Essex Chronicle newspaper. Between 2007 and 2010, Sophia was a writer and director at Nottingham's New Theatre.

Roger Kay

Roger is a theatre director and producer who ran Rialto Theatre in Brighton for nearly a decade. He co-founded Pretty Villain Productions and Rialto Productions, has produced 26 plays and directed several at Brighton Fringe.

James Beagon

James Beagon is a multi award-winning playwright and director, and founder of Edinburgh-based group Aulos Productions. He is also a professional Youth Theatre Tutor with East Lothian Youth Theatre & Strange Town Theatre Company. He has been reviewing with Broadway Baby since 2012 and acting as Children's Shows Editor since 2014.

Louise Jones

Louise is editor for Broadway Baby's Great Yorkshire Fringe coverage, and has written for paid and award-winning publications. She also runs a blog reviewing straight to TV seasonal films, has written two plays and performs in an improv troupe.

Milo Boyd

Milo Boyd is a University of York English Literature and Philosophy graduate with a love of dark modern comedies, funky music and over the top arts journalism. He has formerly written for the mediasnobs.com and edited York Vision student newspaper.

Ellie Coote

Ellie is a director, writer and performer from the University of Cambridge. She has a passion for Musical Theatre, and made her directing debut this year with West Side Story. Last year she performed at the Fringe with the Cambridge University Musical Theatre Society. This is her first time reviewing.

Eleanor Hart

Eleanor is a Brighton based Drama practitioner. An Applied Theatre graduate Eleanor has directed an immersive children’s show which toured to schools in Sussex and has worked freelance as a youth theatre director. Pursuing her interest in community and participatory arts Eleanor is currently working in opera education.

Olivia Zerphy

Olivia Zerphy is a London and Paris-based theatre and film director and actor. Recent work includes associate directing Handel's Serse at Opera Holland Park (Dir. Sam Rayner), and touring Norway as an actor and puppeteer in The Immortal Jellyfish Girl (Dir. Gwen Warnock). Along with Sam Rayner, Emily Wheatman, and Paul Lofferon, she is a founder of Voloz Collective, a multi-award-winning physical theatre company. Voloz has toured nationally throughout the UK and recently had a short film commissioned for Ars Nova (Off-Broadway, NY). Olivia studied at Vassar College, The Moscow Art Theatre School, and L’école Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq.

Callum Stott

Callum has been performing in his local theatre groups for several years now and in doing this, developed his love for taking part and writing about theatre. Also, he has been reviewing theatre for local radio for around three years now and loves seeing all types of performance.

Alanta Colley

Alanta Colley is Australian, an avid writer and devourer of comedy. In the past couple of years she has penned over a hundred reviews at Edinburgh, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Melbourne Fringe Festival and Adelaide Fringe. Alanta is very happy to join the excellent Broadway Baby team again in 2014.

Elinor Arden

Elinor Arden is a writer and artist, based in New York. She studied English Literature at Cambridge, focusing on contemporary theatre, and works primarily as a sound artist and performer, at venues like Theatre Peckham, the Serpentine and Wysing Arts Centre.

Lauren Moreau

Lauren Moreau is from a variety of places in the US. Her theatrical interests include acting, writing, and directing as well as reviewing. Lauren recently won the LIFT Festival's Critical Writing Opportunity, and was selected to review a show at the National Theatre and attend workshops with critic Maddy Costa. She currently studies English Literature at the University of Edinburgh.

Robin T. Barton

Robin is a playwright, director and actor with more years experience than he'd care to admit. He has written everything from stage plays to musicals to soaps to feature films, and directed and/or appeared in practically every performance genre.

Jules Sanderson

Jules Sanderson is a freelance writer and blogger, specializing in travel writing and reviewing. Her main aim in life is to find a job that pays her to travel and she enjoys surfing, eating and staring out of train windows. She blogs about pretty much everything at readtravelwrite.net

Rose Collard

Rose is a recent English and Theatre graduate from the University of Leeds. She loves theatre, books, food and travel. Rose has been writing reviews for the past four years at university and is delighted to have joined Broadway Baby's team.

Joy Watters

Joy has been reviewing theatre and writing and broadcasting about the arts since the mid-1980s, initially for the Dundee Courier and Evening Telegraph newspapers before moving online to Across The Arts and All Edinburgh Theatre. She was, until recently, a member and judge of The Critics’ Awards Theatre Scotland.

James Macnamara

Whilst an undergraduate at Cambridge James played small roles in Timon of Athens and Rhinoceros, and the title character in the ground breaking play William Fergus Stuart (written by William Fergus Stuart). He went on to write and edit reviews for the Cambridge Tab, and was a member of the Broadway Baby team last year.

Nicola Masters

Nicola is a freelance writer and comedian living in London. She has a particular interest in comedy and musical theatre. She is currently a member of the Soho Theatre Young Company, and is also in the process of producing a musical with the hope of taking it to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2016.

Max Allen

Max Allen is an award-winning writer and performer whose acclaimed work has been staged across the UK and Europe. His debut play, FRAT, played to sold-out audiences in London and at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He has a keen interest in emerging theatre, which continues to inspire and inform his own creative practice.

Faye Butler

Faye Butler is a creative director, events producer, and founder of The Waitress Club.

Chris Shapiro

Chris has been a freelance writer for the past 4 years and worked in comedy for the past 3. He lives in London with his three beautiful flatmates and a dodgy oven.

Chelsey Pippin

Chelsey Pippin is a school librarian, freelance writer, and events chair based in Brighton. She previously covered UK travel and culture at BuzzFeed, has chaired panels for Hay Festival and the Southbank Literature Festival, and was shortlisted for the Blue Pencil Agency's First Novel Award in 2018. She is a Drama and English graduate, and received her MA from UCL's European Culture course, where she focused on the politics of 20th century surrealist theatre. Her theatrical tastes these days skew less cerebral and more emotive; she harbours an eternal soft spot for Tennessee Williams.

Naoise Murphy

Naoise is a student at Durham University with an ardent love of all performing arts. She acts and plays music with university groups and writes at every opportunity. Her greatest desire is to one day find gainful employment in the arts.

Catherine Crook

Catherine is a reviewer, singer and actress who specialises in performing musical theatre. She will graduate this summer from Durham University, where she is a choral singer and member of the Foot of the Hill theatre company.

Charlie Ralph

Charlie Ralph is an award-winning comedy writer and performer. He has directed shows for the Edinburgh University Savoy Opera Group and Theatre Paradok since 2015 and is the former Arts Editor of Nouse.

Jessica Wiehler

Jessica is an English Literature and Drama graduate who has written and directed her own work across Manchester. She is a member of the Manchester International Festival's Creative50 and was a theatre critic for The Mancunion newspaper.

Ben Johanson

Ben is a recent graduate of Durham University and was heavily involved in Durham Student Theatre, in directing, performing, and writing reviews for other student productions. Ben found his love for theatre at a very young age, always seeking opportunities to be involved, though in this case he is pursuing a new angle. Having been to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, he is keen to return and to see more fantastic productions. Personal favourites of his include Oscar Wilde and Tom Stoppard.

Faith-Ashleigh is a freelance performing arts reviewer and self-professed 'stand up comedy and theatre geek' from Auckland, New Zealand. She has been writing independently and for multiple online publications since 2012 with experience covering comedy festivals and reviewing a diverse range of stage productions. She joined the Broadway Baby team as a comedy and theatre reviewer in 2013. Now based back in New Zealand, she is helping from afar as sub-editor so she can still be a part of the Edinburgh Fringe, and Broadway Baby, in some small way.

Since her stunning acting debut as the Virgin Mary at the age of seven, Lucy has enjoyed dragging various friends/acquaintances/people she meets on the street to see shows that she wishes she was acting in. Sometimes she does actually tread the boards herself, and between writing, acting, and pretending that her degree doesn't exist, you'll find her wandering the meadows of Edinburgh like a lost Bront? sister and writing about herself in the third person.

Jane Prinsley

Jane is a writer, director and facilitator from Norwich. She currently works for the Guardian. She enjoys theatre that tells untold stories, poses new questions and makes audiences see the world anew.

Liam McKenna

Liam is a writer/reviewer/performer from Herts in England with interests in comedy and theatre and comedy theatre. He enjoys discovering hidden gems on the free festivals but is also open to finding gems in any given scenario. Whilst mining, for example. In 2014 Liam performed his debut co-written failed history comedy/theatre concept show, both terrifying and rewarding but also easier than writing about himself in 3rd person.

Florence Rose

Florence is a writer, reviewer and PhD student from London who is now based in Edinburgh. In 2011 she co-wrote and helped to stage a play at the Edinburgh Fringe, and since then she has been addicted to the festival atmosphere. She loves dogs, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and eating sandwiches that other people have made for her.

Caitlin is going into her third year studying English Literature at the University of Edinburgh. Her hobbies include blogging, MUN and theatre. Born in the South of England, she moved up to the 'Athens of the North' to thrive in one of her favourite cities.

Zachary has performed in various production, professional and amateur. Professionally appearing as Jeremy Potts, in the UK Touring Production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Edinburgh Playhouse; Ensemble in Jesus Christ Superstar (Festival Theatre); Ensemble, Joseph and his Amazing Technicolored Dreamboat (Playhouse); Jerome, South Pacific (Playhouse) and ensemble in Never Forget (Playhouse). Zachary has also appeared in various school productions when he attended Erskine Stewart's Melville Schools such as Marius in Les Miserable, Nanki-Poo in Hit Mikado, Chris Keller in All My Sons and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. He has also performed Marius twice in the Edinburgh Fringe with Captivate Drama. Zachary currently attends St. Andrews University where he reads Modern History and International Relations. Emma Brenner

Emma Plotkin is a writer, director and theater-maker originally from upstate NY. Two years ago she began a theater blog that examined social mission, pay, funding, technique, collaboration and aesthetic within the context of history, art, culture and the current political climate. In addition to journalism, Emma has a firm grounding in social activism and has studied global and local intersectional gender studies and community action. Her work emphasizes diverse voices and the complexities of representation as holistic characters. She is an avid learner whose interests span neuroscience, synesthesia, modern Chinese affairs, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, music, dance and environmental issues. She has participated in the Sackler Conference on “Love and Neuroscience”, written about the synesthetic brain for an upcoming issue of Sony Magazine, collaborated on digital theater with researcher Pat Paranutaporn from Freak Lab and MIT Media Labs, written on failure, art and collaboration for the Ford Foundation and written a play on modern dancer and choreographer Pina Bausch with NOplays, 365 Women a Year and Hubbard Hall. Her love for reading, art and cultural activities informs her writing. Emma is also an active theater, dance and music artist who has worked with major directors like Robert Wilson, Ann Bogart, Liz Lerman, CocoRosie and Kristin Hanggi. As a theater artist, Emma has worked with Beth Morrison Projects, Siti Company, The Watermill Center, The Hangar Theater, HERE Arts Center, The Eugene O’Neill and the The National Theater Institute. She is trained in a wide variety of styles including many physical forms of theater, dance, puppetry, masks, Alexander, Meisner, Suzuki and Viewpoints.

Lily Luty

Theatre lover and creator with experience in dramaturgy, devising, dramatic writing, directing, producing and performing in theatre, film and television. Last year Lily worked as Assistant Director to Tara Robinson in an international theatre festival held in the York Theatre Royal; 'Theatre Cafe' involved working with newly translated texts to deliver their first public reading in the UK. Lily also volunteers with York-based theatre company 'Out of Character;' a group which works to challenge modern perceptions on mental health through devised theatre and performance. Lily worked as Personal Assistant to 'Tambourgi Productions' in the 2014 EdFringe, and had several of her Fringe show reviews published in Nouse.

Amira is a freelance playwright and performer who has performed and written in collaboration with Brighton Dome, Theatre Royal, and The Old Market Theatre. She is also an avid English literature and music student.

Craig Unadkat is an Actor, one fifth of Red Biscuit Theatre and an avid spectator of the arts!

Amelia Tait

Amelia is a journalist with a penchant for writing satire. Though she lost the role of the Virgin Mary to a classmate aged five, she since went on to star as Puss in Puss in Boots a mere five-years later and has loved the theatre ever since.

Oliver Lugg

Oliver Lugg is a University of Sussex student with a passion for the arts. The theatre correspondent for the University of Sussex newspaper is just the beginning of a formidable career in arts journalism.

Nicole Darvill-Batten

Nicole is a published poet currently studying Creative Writing at the University of Greenwich. Prior to this, she trained in Dance at Liberatus School of Performing Arts and has had years of experience as a Musical Theatre performer.

Elspeth is a designer, puppeteer and facilitator based in Edinburgh. She has performed in several Scottish festivals including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Manipulate. Her specialist areas are puppetry, visual theatre, children's theatre and dance.

Christian Maddock

Christian is an aspiring journalist, performer and recent graduate from Edinburgh University. For the past three years, he has been part of the Improverts, the Fringe's longest-running improvisational comedy show. This year, as well as performing, Christian will be directing the Improverts' performances at the The Bedlam Theatre.

Laura Tucker

Laura is creative copywriter and world traveller with a passion for theatre. Writing credits include Lonely Planet, LGBTQ+ men's mag Mr Hudson and Asia travel publication DestinAsian.

Angela Hicks

Angela is a 23 year old master of Drama and Theatre Studies graduate from The University of Kent; specialising in Physical Actor Training and Performance. She has a keen interest in performances that utilise physical theatre, improvisation and circus skills. In her spare time she helps create immersive and interactive theatre for children on the autistic spectrum.

Hannah is an experienced arts journalist who holds a master's degree in Journalism and a bachelor's in English Literature.

Douglas Gibson

Douglas was born and bred in south London and studied English Literature as an undergraduate. He went on to do a master's degree in Creative Writing at the University of Edinburgh and now balances his time between writing fiction, reviewing theatre and teaching.

Cal Kenny

Cal works in Editorial at Bloomsbury Publishing, London, but his first love was theatre. While studying at the University of Durham, he was involved in, and reviewed many plays in both the North East and Edinburgh.

Philippa Bougeard

Philippa is a culture writer and blogger. Her background in the arts is diverse; having originally trained as an assistant curator, she nows works for Worthing Theatres, in a role that focuses on audience engagement and community outreach.

Katerina Partolina Schwartz

Current Masters student at King's College London undertaking a degree in Global Leadership and Peacebuilding. Former publications include Scotsgay Magazine and Young Perspective, as well as student publications at the University of Glasgow. Background in classical singing and theatre tech, in particular lighting operating and design.

Heather Lune

Heather is a distinguished dabbler in all things, with a proven inability to avoid writing. She studied English Literature and Creative Writing in Toronto, and promptly escaped Canada for the Scottish wilds. Heather currently finds herself at every possible festival Edinburgh has to offer.

Kylie Masznicz

Kylie Masznicz is a student on exchange at University of Brighton studying Creative Writing. She has attended several shows in her hometown Reno, NV and also has experienced a wide variety of shows in Las Vegas, New York, and London. She is dedicated to giving a fair yet critical review.

Megan Atkins

Megan Atkins is writer for Broadway Baby in Edinburgh for her second year running. She is currently a student at the University of Edinburgh and is a free lance writer of many areas in her free time.

Susanne Crosby

Susanne is a national award winning playwright and has been telling stories since she learned to talk. She became a published poet aged 17, and is mainly known for writing plays which have been performed all over East Sussex. In addition, she writes short stories and has one published novel. She is also a freelance journalist for local papers, magazines and blogs. She is part of the “Paperweights” anthology, published by Scope in 2015.

David Rumelle

David Rumelle is an actor/singer/performer/cabaret artist of over 30 years. He has appeared in a wide range of plays,musicals,summer seasons,repertory ,cabaret,revue and pantomime. He has produced and directed via his own companies -Brighton Events Live and Theatre Compound.

Jenni Ajderian

Since learning to spell her often confusing name, Jenni has reviewed comedy, theatre and art for student press, The Skinny, ThreeWeeks, Broadway Baby, and also served time as Comedy Editor in the 2013 Fringe. Proofreading, editing, freelance copywriting and technical writing keep her grammar in check outside of Festival time.

Skot Wilson

Skot Wilson is a writer & playwright on attachment to Bristol Old Vic, and a recipient of a 2021-2022 Boston University MFA scholarship. His work has been commissioned by Bristol Old Vic Theatre, the BBC, and he is a recipient of the Benjamin Franklin Literary Prize. He joined Broadway Baby in 2018 and was shortlisted for Allen Wright Award for reviewing at Edinburgh Fringe in the same year, as well as the International Anthony Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism.

Jason Slavick

Jason Slavick is the Artistic Director of Liars & Believers, a theatre ensemble based in Cambridge, MA in the USA. He has devised, written, and directed numerous plays of all sorts in the past 30 years, and he is the director of Yellow Bird Chase. Jason became a professional theatre artist after he forgot to keep studying philosophy.

Jack Powell

Jack joined the Broadway Baby team in 2013 and currently serves as its comedy editor for the Edinburgh Fringe. Writing in a freelance capacity at present, he holds degrees in English Literature and Cultural Criticism.

Richard Skipper

With experience in bringing student theatre to the unlikeliest places, Richard is an appreciator of theatre and comedy that challenges him to write coherent reviews. After experiences in acting and writing, criticism seemed like the easiest way out.

Lewis Dunn

Lewis has been viewing fringe comedy for over 10 years. He enjoys a broad variety of comic types, from bawdy club sets to slow and thoughtful one man shows. His experience in stand up, improv, theatre and pantomime has given him a view from both sides of the stage, and an appreciation for the work that goes into every show.

Ian Zarate

Ian Zarate is a Chilean born actor/writer/director who has lived in England from age 10. Studied acting and directing four years at the Kogan Academy of Dramatic Arts and achieved a BAHons. Ian is inspired by theatre that analyses the human condition and asks important questions while still using more traditional forms of the medium.

Lauren McLay

Currently the Marketing Manager at Bedlam Theatre, Lauren is also a fledgling theatre producer and reviewer. Writing for The Student, Lauren has learnt the importance of making biographies as dry and boring as possible as to avoid them being read. She hopes her reviews are fun-filled adventures of riotous wit.

Alex Reeves

Alex is currently studying playwriting at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London. Prior to that, she graduated in English and History of Art from the University of Edinburgh, where she was occasionally involved with the university's theatre companies. Her interests lie in play- / screen-writing, theatre- and film-making, contemporary dance and the visual arts, both for adults and children.

Joshua Clarke

Joshua has a drama degree from the University of Exeter, works as a teacher and freelances as a musical director and pianist. His previous EdFringe experience is as an actor (Gilbert and Sullivan: The Musical, 2013) and musician (Funny Girl, 2014). He has written a number of short plays, has occasional work as a dramaturg and maintains blogs related to the arts and education.

Catriona Scott

Catriona is a playwright, director, and actor. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh's MSc in Playwriting in November 2017 and is currently working on her first novel and tenth script. She first wrote for Broadway Baby in 2015.

I am a retired journalist and teacher and have a MA in Creative Writing from St Mary's University Twickenham I achieved my PGCE at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Oli Dunbar is the co-writer of Rapsody, which he developed and wrote alongside Corey Weekes during lockdown. He also acts in the piece, playing Elz. Having taken his ‘F*CK OFF* to the Fringe in 2019 while still in acting school, Oli is no stranger to Edinburgh and is excited to be back with Rapsody. Jeremy Sassoon

Former doctor and hospital psychiatrist Jeremy Sassoon changed career to become one of the UK's most in-demand singer pianists. He headlined at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club during the London 2012 Olympics and is a regular headliner at Pizza Express Jazz Club Soho, 606 Jazz Club and Berlin's A-Trane Jazz Club. He recently graced the main stage at Love Supreme Jazz Festival 2019 with his Ray Charles Project alongside Jamie Cullum & Ms Lauryn Hill. In 2014, his recording of the Marc Cohn song “The Things We've Handed Down” was featured on BBC R4's Desert Island Discs and hit number 1 on the iTunes vocal download chart.

Lily Crooke

Lily Crooke is a recent graduate in English Literature from the University of Glasgow. She has taken courses in theatre and postmodern art whilst studying in Canada, and is an avid theatregoer wherever in the world she finds herself.

Dan is currently involved in student drama, sometimes acting, sometimes directing, and this year he is president of Christ’s Amateur Dramatic Society. He is interested in early modern drama, ecotheatre, queer stories, and poetry in performance. He studies English at Christ’s College, Cambridge.

Alice has enjoyed theatre since she was cast as Bill Sykes in her year 5 production of Oliver Twist. She likes to imagine that her performance skills have progressed since then, as she still enjoys acting in amdram, but who knows. JooWan Kim

JooWan Kim is a California-based composer who fuses hip-hop and classical music. He is the artistic director and co-founder of Ensemble Mik Nawooj (EMN). While completing his master’s degree at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music he presented a novelty piece which featured an MC alongside a chamber ensemble. Thanks to this he recognised that hip-hop could inject new dynamism into classical music.

Stewart is a freelance theatre practitioner who works for a variety of companies including Scottish Youth Theatre, The Drama Studio and Face2Face Theatre. He has a degree in Performing Arts and has been writing reviews for Broadway Baby, Filmwerk and Exeunt for the past few years.

However, she also loves to critique performances as demonstrated by her role as the Theatre Editor for The Saint newspaper from 2015-16. A graduate of Condé Nast College for Fashion and Design, Caroline life revolves around the arts as she completes her English and Modern History degree.

Glenn Moore

Glenn Moore was still a student at the University of Sheffield when he became a finalist in the 2011 Chortle Student Comedian of the Year Award. He went on to work as a newsreader and to perform stand-up. He's been a a panellist on the BBC2 show Mock the Week and a member of the Absolute Radio breakfast show and a nomineefor the Edinburgh Comedy Award. He's featured on ITVs The Stand Up Sketch Show and Out There. and in late 2020 he started streaming games on Twitch.

Siobhan Taylor

Siobhan has worked in the theatre industry for 7 years as a production coordinator and freelance producer. Her love for the stage began as a child at various stage schools and into university where she studied drama and theatre studies. She has worked across fringe, off-West End, large-scale touring and West End.

Guy is a third-year music student at Bristol University. In his time at university he has been heavily involved in musical theatre and student journalism. Architect and writer from Peru, with an MSc in Urban Regeneration from University College London. Previous work includes publications and books from Universidad de Lima and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She has a background in acting and multiple styles of dance. Through speaking many languages and having lived and worked in Lima, Venice, London and Barcelona, she has gained a worldly knowledge of the performing arts.

Freddi Gralle

Stand-up comedian Freddi Gralle started with a degree in languages and worked as a translator for many years, then moved to Berlin in 2008 to study screen-writing at the DFFB film school. Since then she has written for (and acted in) German late night (“Shapira! Shapira!”, ZDF Neo) and other sketch formats (“Alles bestens”, Smyle). She is developing her own pilot with Pyjama Pictures and is a writer on the understated comedy series “Fett und Fett” (ZDF Neo). As a stand-up she has appeared on Sky One and CC Germany is featured in the series “Heroes” with German legend Serdar Somuncu (ZDF). But the most proud Freddi is to be an undefeated contestant on Comedy Central Germany’s Roast Battles.

Stacey Clare is a writer, theatre-maker, sex worker and community organiser. In 2022 she published her first book “The Ethical Stripper: Sex, Work and Labour Rights in the Night Time Economy”. She is co-creator of Fringe show “Ask A Stripper” and cast member of sex worker-led productions “The Illicit Thrill” and “Sex Workers’ Opera”. Her inside knowledge of the sex industry has informed her writing and theatre practise, and allows her to critique representations of sex work in the arts and wider culture.

Jess Ducey

Jess Ducey is a writer, producer, fundraiser, and aspiring clown with a penchant for art celebrating joy. Jess is based in NYC, where they are co-chair of the board of the National Queer Theater, producer for Butch Mermaid Productions, and a member of Primary Stages’ 2022-2023 Echoes writers group, where they are developing an absurd comedy inspired by the true story of pediatricians who swallowed LEGO heads for science. They previously lived in Aotearoa New Zealand, where they co-founded and produced Queer AF, Wellington’s first festival of queer art. They turned their apartment into The Gay Salon, a pop up arts venue, and created Unfinished Business, an immersive show in which artists shared works in progress over a three course dinner party. Their writing has appeared on Radio NZ and is forthcoming in Landfall. Performance credits include Naked Girls Reading, queer ballet Sapphic Lake, and nude installations The Lady Garden and Coated Privilege. BLAIR SIMMONS created, produced and performed in the original run of Staging Wittgenstein. This piece was the culminations of her NYU Dramatic Literature degree. It was funded by the DURF Research Grant and was presented upon at the 2016 Undergraduate Research Conference as an exploration of physical language. Christine is a Welsh actor, writer and voice over artist. She spent six years living in Dubai writing features and columns for lifestyle and listing magazines and tanning. Now back in Brighton (well, Hove actually) and very much paler, she is a regular reviewer for Broadway Baby and also appeared in a one-woman show, Caitlin, for Brighton Fringe Festival 2018. Amy is a playwright, dramaturg and disability activist from Bristol. Charles Sanchez

Charles Sanchez is an openly gay, HIV positive writer/performer living in New York City. He studied acting and musical theatre technique at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. As a professional actor, he’s performed in original works Off Broadway at The Vineyard Theatre and Open Eye: New Stagings, as well as at Lincoln Center with the Little People’s Orchestra. He was seen regionally in theatres ranging from the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park to Murry’s Dinner Playhouse in Little Rock, AR. He conceived, directed and performed in the music revue, “Out of the Trunk” and co-wrote and performed Sweet and Sour Porked Off Off Broadway. He also co-wrote the book of Aliza, the musical, developed and performed at the Minerva Stage in Williamstown, MA. Last season he directed the cabaret act, “Mismatch.com” at Don’t Tell Mama, and most recently he’s been performing his original stories around town in venues like The PIT and Le Poissen Rouge. He was recently featured on “The Courage to Change” on Intention Radio. He conceived, wrote and starred in Manhattan Man-Travels, a comedy web series on YouTube, which he is now re-imagining along with his producing partner Tyne Firmin. The new comedy series Merce, about a single, gay, HIV positive man living in NYC will be seen on YouTube in the Fall.

Joe Gardner is a performer and comedian from Glasgow. He performed with a critically acclaimed youth theatre company from 2012 until 2016 and toured with them across Scotland. As a comedian, Joe was the first winner of the Gilded Balloon's Edinburgh Fringe Festival Class Clowns competition.

Morna Young is a playwright from Moray in Scotland. She was named Scots Writer of the Year in 2019. Callie Payne

Callie is a finalist in English Literature at the University of Sussex. She has contributed widely to the student news paper, The Badger, including comedy reviews, music reviews, as well as Science and Technology features. Callie attended the University of Konstanz, Germany in a voluntary year abroad where she kept a travel blog of her experiences there. This notably included being the Assistant Fashion Show Producer and Executive Wardrobe Stylist of a fully student organised international Eco fashion show, Future Fashion Day, which achieved national acclaim in Der Spiegel. Prior to this, she was a writing intern for Stylus, an "innovation research and advisory firm", or online "magazine". Stylus keeps big firms in the know of recent trends, innovations, and brand movement. Her role encompassed condensing vast amounts of information into select, informative and well researched articles. After graduation Callie plans to move to Berlin to extend her German education and to become involved with more event planning and writing, before starting an MA in International Journalism.

Stephen Svoboda

Stephen Svoboda is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Director of Theatre at Heidelberg University where he teaches coursework in acting, script analysis, musical theatre direction, play direction, theatre history and criticism. He is responsible for curriculum and course development in The School of Music and Theatre as well as the artistic and programmatic development of the Gundlach Theatre. He served as the Executive Artistic Director of the Redhouse Arts Center from 2011 - 2016. While at the Redhouse Arts Center Stephen developed unique partnerships with a variety of organizations throughout the state, including a multi-million dollar contract with the Syracuse City Schools that made The Redhouse the regional leader in arts education and integration. As an Artist and Educator Stephen is focused on developing young dramatists through devising, growing, and staging new works, while celebrating the great diversity of emerging voices.

Becca makes jokes, she writes, she tells people her jokes and then writes about it. From performance art to the West End there is nothing Becca hasn't seen and appreciated, a loud Northerner with a lot to say. One reviewer once said Becca was 'good for a woman' and from that day hence forth, it has been her mission not only to celebrate her success as a woman, but make sure no one else receives such a ridiculous remark. Esther is originally from London and currently based in Barcelona, Spain. Esther currently works as an editor. Esther was twice chosen to take part in a government-sponsored program that put 11-16-year-olds through an intensive three-month comedy course with the goal of performing at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which she did in 2007 and 2008. In 2023, having returned to her love of comedy in late 2022, Esther won 'Best Newcomer' at the Barcelona comedy awards, was Barcelona's first Roast Battle Champion and was a finalist for Barcelona's funniest person of the year in 2023 and 2024. Esther was a finalist in Comedy Bloomers: LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year 2025 and became Barcelona's first two time Roast Battle Champion in 2025

She's acted on stage, writes and performs yoga stories for young children and is crazy about all kinds of dance.

Gwen M. Dolan

Gwen graduated from PASS, Edinburgh College, in 2024. Along with her college credits she also performed in a cabaret during Edinburgh Fringe 2024, and had her directing debut at The Traverse Theatre as part of 4Play Theatre in December. Gwen is also producer & director of her own theatre company, Epona Productions, taking a show to both Leith Festival & Edinburgh fringe 2025. She is currently in a mentorship at The Lyceum.

Disa Andersen is a Scandinavian actress and singer residing in England. Disa graduated from Arts University Bournemouth with a BA (Hons) Acting. Prior to her arrival in England, Disa studied Catherine Sadolin's Complete Vocal Technique for seven years. Disa is the head of the theatre company Rokkur Friggjar along two others.

Brighton based Actor and Director. Tom Chown has performed in venues primarily across Sussex and Hampshire, and has a particular interested in new and contemporary works.

Brian Felsen

Brian Felsen (Director, Producer) is a playwright and filmmaker who also has run some of the largest companies serving independent artists. His previous feature film is COUP (DARBE), an award-winning documentary about the Turkish military coups d’état. From 2014-2015, Felsen was President of AdRev, the leading YouTube music administration service and Content ID Network Partner. He was also President of CD Baby from 2008-14, the world\'s biggest online distributor of independent music. He also founded BookBaby, which digitally distributes the works of authors and publishers to hundreds of digital retailers and libraries. Other previous activities include founding and running one of the largest indie music conferences in the world, composing several classical music works, choreographing dance, creating art photography, poetry, and plays, and producing an album of secular gospel music.

After finishing a scriptwriting degree that saw him directing numerous short films, Rick became a stand-up comedian, performing three Edinburgh Fringe Festival Shows in 2012, 2013 and 2014. Dean is an actor, writer and directer who trained at the prestigious drama school, Mountview. His acting credits cover a broad spectrum, including: Musicals, Plays and Short Films. He co-wrote “Hollywood”, a new musical, with West End legend Julie Atherton, on which he was also Assistant Director. Frederick "Freddie" Alexander is a writer and events organiser based in Edinburgh. Since 2013 he has been an organiser and host of the Inky Fingers Open Mic night, and has been an organiser of the University of Edinburgh Soapbox Open Mic. In 2014 he coordinated and hosted the second National UK University Poetry Slam.

Chris Quilietti

Chris is an audio producer who has worked for national BBC and commercial stations. He has been involved with programmes produced at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2014 and has also worked in theatre and live events.

Joe Christie

Joe is a film-maker, playwright, producer and director originally hailing from the Shetland Islands. He is one of the founders of Auld Stag Theatre and has had his work performed at the Garrison Theatre and Bedlam Theatre. He is currently an undergraduate in English Literature at the University of Edinburgh.

Jade Cuttle

Jade Cuttle, University of Cambridge, is currently working on a new BBC Four Arts documentary series. She has been involved with the production of poetry podcasts for BBC Radio 3 with Ian McMillan and Daljit Nagra in association with BBC Proms, and continues to bring poetry to the BBC Introducing platform, such as celebrating Shakespeare's 400th. She has worked with The Poetry Society, written for The Sunday Times, and is editor-in-chief at Cambridge Creatives, alongside being a practicing poet and poetic-folk musician herself.

Verity Bell

Verity is a writer and stand-up comedian who has also performed in productions of new writing and sketch comedy. She graduates this summer from the University of Oxford, where she reviewed student drama anonymously as The Invisible Critic.

Diana Scarborough

Diana Scarborough is an artist/engineer who creates installations and kinetic sculptures combining new media with defunct technology. She is also an educator teaching art, animation and filmmaking to school age students through to adults. Her own work is inspired by analogue technology and past narratives which she reforms it in a contemporary context inviting engagement through visitor participation and interaction. She is a contemporary artist interested in contemporary meaningful issues and utopian (or distopian?) possibilities. As such, she is inspired by artists who continually explore and remain open and experimental in their artistic approaches.

Nuri Syed Corser

Nuri has acted, directed and hung around theatres for over a decade - but these days he mostly writes reviews. Away from the stage, he works as a climate campaigner, organising protests against the fossil fuel industry.

David Robinson

Actor, script writer and director for a number of touring theatre companies for over 30 years. A regular at the Edinburgh fringe for over 15 years with batch of new productions and cabarets. Prior to that David was at the Royal Opera House London adding to his wide arts experience.

Yorkshire born theatre lover, Georgia Harriet has experience as a theatre critic for University of Kent's newspaper 'Inquire', as well as their magazine 'Arts Life'. With a Bachelors Degree in English Literature and Drama, she has interviewed the likes of Mark Rylance and Max Stafford-Clark, and endeavours to write with honesty at the forefront of her reviews.

Beverly is a writer and critic with years of experience in Fringe theatre. As a playwright, her work has been performed all over the country, at festivals including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Brighton Fringe, Playmill, Little Leeds Fringe, and the Scottish One Act Play Festival.

Ed Barnes

Ed Barnes has presented his own radio show for the last three years and been to more gigs than anyone he knows. He also plays in a semi-comedic pornography-obsessed glam-punk band and has a propensity for using hyphenated adjectives. One day he'll be a proper stand-up comedian, but for now he'll have to settle for writing about it.

Stephanie Green

Stephanie Green has reviewed Theatre and Dance in Edinburgh since 2011 but previously travelled widely, mainly in Eastern Europe and Russia, writing about puppetry. She also studied shadow puppetry and sacred dance in Bali. In the 1970s, she trained as a puppeteer at the Little Angel, London and later worked at the alternative In the Heart of the Beast Mask and Puppet Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S.A. After training at the Place, the London School of Contemporary Dance, in her 20s she then gave up dancing until starting again in her 60s just for fun. She has recently danced in a community group with Barrowland Ballet (at the Edinburgh Fringe, 2013), Oceanallover and at the South Bank, London as part of the Festival of the Silver Age. By day, Laura works in London as a fiction editor for one of the UK's largest publishing companies. Carys is an Oxford music graduate working in a variety of arts organisations. She is currently Executive Director of Thames Youth Orchestra and General Manager of The Voice Festival UK, and has performed and worked backstage in numerous Edinburgh Fringe productions.

Lydia is a playwright and performance artist living and working in the South. She regularly reviews theatre for her own blog, as well as for the Hampshire Chronicle and the Basingstoke Gazette. She also writes critical articles discussing the face of British theatre.

Isobel Cockerell is a 22-year-old writer and theatre enthusiast. This is her second year at the Fringe. She has previously written for the Huffington Post, the Stepford, Varsity, Cambridge Theatre Review, the Tab Cambridge, the Tab Bristol, and the Bristol Theatre Review. She has also had some of her work performed on stage in Cambridge.

Jared is a graduate of the University of St Andrews, where he has been reviewing, writing, directing, and performing since 2013. This is his fourth year at the Fringe, his first as a reviewer. He is a recipient of the McEuen Rose Bowl award for excellence in student drama.
